In 1937 Nozomu Matsumoto created the first magnetoelectric speaker in Japan, and a year later, he registered in Tokyo the company with the name Fukuin Shokai Denki Seisakusho. In 1961, the company’s name was changed to Pioneer Electronic Corporation. However, the breakthrough came in 1962, when the company entered the Tokyo Stock Exchange and created the world’s first stereo system with speakers in separate housings. Four years later, Pioneer opened branches in the USA and in Europe. In 1978, the company created one of the best-known and most powerful receivers in its history SX-1980. Pioneer can also be proud of great successes in the world of auto-moto, as it introduced in 1975 the world’s first automotive stereo subassembly, then in 1984 a CD player and GPS navigation in 1990. The company also played a major role in the development of DVDs, plasma TVs and Organic LED display technologies (OLED). The company is currently a part of Pioneer & Onkyo Corporation.
The Pioneer Exclusive P10 is one of the most advanced turntables ever created under the Exclusive brand. Introduced alongside the legendary P3, it was designed without compromise as a reference-level vinyl playback system for the most demanding music enthusiasts. Like other components from the prestigious Exclusive series, the P10 was hand-built, benefiting from decades of engineering expertise and technical knowledge accumulated by Pioneer’s finest designers. At the heart of the turntable is the remarkable EM-10 drive system, featuring a coreless and slotless Linear Torque Hall Motor. This advanced motor design eliminates the torque irregularities and vibrations commonly associated with conventional motors, resulting in an impressive starting torque of 3 kg/cm and exceptionally stable operation from the moment playback begins.
To achieve absolute rotational precision, Pioneer incorporated the innovative SHR (Stable Hanging Rotor) system. This sophisticated bearing structure reduces side pressure on the spindle while lowering the center of gravity of the entire rotating assembly. As a result, the Exclusive P10 achieves extraordinary performance figures, including wow and flutter of just 0.007% WRMS and rotational speed accuracy of 0.002%, specifications that remain impressive even by modern high-end standards. The turntable is equipped with the reference-grade EA-10 tonearm, developed exclusively for the Exclusive series. The design incorporates an advanced oil-damping mechanism utilizing high-quality silicone fluid. This system significantly improves tracking ability and effectively reduces intermodulation distortion, particularly during the reproduction of high-amplitude low-frequency signals. The adjustable damping mechanism allows the user to precisely tailor the arm’s behavior to the selected cartridge. To achieve maximum mechanical neutrality, every component of the tonearm was subjected to extensive resonance analysis and countless listening evaluations. The result is a straight tapered carbon-fiber arm tube integrated with the headshell, minimizing unwanted vibrations and ensuring exceptionally stable playback with both MM and the most demanding MC cartridges. Additionally, the turntable includes a universal S-shaped arm tube, allowing compatibility with the vast majority of cartridges available on the market.
The plinth is constructed from a multi-layer, non-resonant laminated structure featuring a specialized slit-type design. Combined with a low center of gravity and an advanced isolation system, it effectively suppresses external vibrations and acoustic feedback. Completing the elegant appearance is a beautifully crafted 5 mm smoked acrylic dust cover, perfectly matching the sophisticated character of the turntable. Today, the Pioneer Exclusive P10 remains one of the rarest and most desirable turntables ever produced in Japan. It is a truly uncompromising design from an era when engineers pursued only one goal: achieving absolute perfection in analog music reproduction.
The enclosure has undergone a complete professional revitalization and is crafted from beautiful rosewood veneer. The wood has been finished using traditional Chinese oil based on natural oils, followed by a natural beeswax finish made with turpentine, creating a rich, deep surface that is exceptionally pleasant to the touch. All external and internal metal components have been carefully cleaned and refinished using professional automotive wet-paint techniques. The entire unit has undergone a complete inspection and comprehensive servicing.
