Description

Yamaha NS-500M loudspeakers. Exclusive Version. Fully revitalized.

In 1887 Torakusu Yamaha built his first keyboard wind instrument. Ten years later Torakusu established Nippon Gakki Co. Ltd. and produced pianos and reed organs, which were  rewarded in 1904 with Honorary Main Reward at the World Fair in Saint Louis. In the following years, the company extended its offer  of musical instruments and produced pianos, acoustic guitars, trumpets, percussions, electric guitars, etc. The company also began to produce audio equipment. The first turntables were created in the 1920s, but especially valued hi-fi devices (mainly amplifiers and CD players) and high-quality loudspeakers that complemented them were created in the 70’s and 80’s. In 1955, as the Yamaha Motor Company, the company also dealt with the production of two-wheelers, and from the early 70’s, professional sound equipment currently known as Yamaha Pro Audio.

The Yamaha NS-500M are exceptional monitor loudspeakers created during a period when Yamaha was among the world’s leading manufacturers of professional monitoring systems. This model was developed as a continuation of the experience gained during the creation of the legendary NS-series studio monitors and was engineered with one goal in mind: maximum fidelity in sound reproduction. At the heart of the design are advanced drivers utilizing technologies developed by Yamaha for the company’s most prestigious loudspeaker systems. The use of extremely lightweight and rigid diaphragms provides exceptional transient response, outstanding detail retrieval and a remarkably natural presentation across the entire frequency range. The Yamaha NS-500M delivers a sound characterized by exceptional clarity, precision and neutrality. Bass is fast, perfectly controlled and free from coloration. The midrange impresses with its natural character and realistic vocal reproduction, while the high frequencies reveal an impressive amount of detail while remaining smooth and completely free from harshness. The result is a wide and stable soundstage, along with a remarkable ability to reveal even the finest details within a recording. The highly rigid enclosures were designed to minimize unwanted resonances, allowing the loudspeakers to maintain complete control over the music even at high listening levels. A sophisticated crossover network and adjustable midrange and high-frequency controls allow precise tailoring of the sound to both the listening environment and the owner’s personal preferences. Today, the Yamaha NS-500M is regarded as one of the most interesting vintage monitor loudspeakers from the golden era of Japanese hi-fi. They combine exceptional build quality, timeless styling and an incredibly natural, highly detailed sound that continues to impress both collectors and demanding music enthusiasts.

The cabinets have undergone a complete professional revitalization. The beautiful rosewood veneer adds extraordinary elegance and character to the loudspeakers. The wood has been finished using traditional Chinese oil based on natural oils, followed by a natural beeswax finish made with turpentine. The surface is exceptionally pleasant to the touch. High-quality finishing screws have been installed throughout. The level adjustment controls have been cleaned and serviced. New grille fabric has been fitted. Original Yamaha brand badges are present. The crossover capacitors remain in excellent original condition.
